GoodTree.Com ::: Please Be Careful

Please be careful when you sign up for goodtree.com I received an invitation from some friends and accepted the invitation. Upon receiving the invitation i was prompted to sign up. I am not really sure if the website is a scam or phishing. Nevertheless, there certainly suspicious features that we should know and consider:

  • Immediately after signing up, It will ask you to give away your Yahoo or/and Hotmail login username and password in order to automotacally invite your contacs- something that i would not do and i did not do it.
  • After I accepted an invitation from a friend, I checked if he is already in my friend list…. voalla!! the friend’s list is empty. It is something rather not normal I think. When I accepted friendster, multiply, facebook, and the like invitations, the inviting side automatically listed in my friend’s list …
  • Upon receiving a notification from the GoodTree.com that I am registered with them, I click on of what we normally think as email verification link … and it led me to a very strange page… DEAD END (Nope .. not there??? what do you mean?)
  • Last but not the least, I could perform so many functions even BEFORE my email was verified… in most real websites, you can not do much until your email is verified.

I will not pass a judgement on the website cause it claims to have a good intention/cause. However it is worthy to remind that good cause must come with a good manner if it is to go really toward a good direction. So please be very careful my friends. I can suggest not to give up your email login details to this website. For the people of goodtree.com, if your website is simply bad please make it better.

Unnecessary Division (Suharto)

Suharto - Indonesia`s second president died 2 days ago. The Indonesian people seem to be divided over his legacy. Some regarded him as a hero some as a criminal.

Indeed during the Suharto era, Indonesia grew into a considerable power at least in the region supported by strong economic growth and food self-sufficiency. These are sweet memories that I miss so much.. not to mention the stability, and order within the country. In that sense, Indonesia was much better that time than it is now. Most (i repeat most and not all) people can live relatively easier that time. We did had a reason to be come the next real power… in this sense he is a hero.

At the same time, his so called New Order is also featured with gross human rights violation and repressive press control. I can even remember how I was persuaded to choose for the Golkar party in the election and many media are being shut down for expressing dissenting opinion from that of the government. It can also be noted that the government was corrupted from within as the family and friends of the Cendana (residence of Suharto in Jakarta) are tapping on this absolute power for private and business interest! it is not yet decided by the Court but.. .we can say that he is a criminal or at least a convicted!

so some people ask how we should remember this guy. I say we do not have to! We have the choice not to remember him… it is not a must or not even a "should"! But if one feels compelled or would like to remember… i dare to say that we must not see things black and white…

let one remember him as a hero as well as a criminal/convicted…

Beware of Cows

It`s a bird .. no! It’s a plane, yes! it`s a cow… no… they are going into collision

Just now i read this news which literally mean: Boeing 737 rammed into a Cow during Landing!

—end of news

How can we promote tourism if our flight is so unsafe?! I hope the government of Indonesia would take this matter seriously. Promoting tourism is less about campaigning and advertising… it should be more about preparedness and improvement of living condition! LISTEN and DO!

smorty - when pleasure means business

Have you ever written without purpose? I have and tend to enjoy it so much. Writing is such an enjoyable activities.. especially in blogs. For me, it is really like a break from routinity of work. It is really a way of getting it all out whatever I encountered in life. This all can be changed in an unimaginable way after i learn that I can get paid to blog with Smorty.

Blogging for me is really pleasure in its full meaning :) although i should say i can enjoy writing for jobs and try to make it fun whenever possible. However it can never match the pleasure of blogging or just random writing! Well, things may never be the same again because of smorty’s service. It completes the pleasure of random writing with random earning :D … It is really something I never thought about! For this I have to thank my Comrade :

At any rate, it is really nice to be smorty… because really you can pick the jobs you like. this way i can keep being true to myself in whatever i write. I think the freedom and options to choose what you want to write is very important for free-thinkers such as I am. It is also a way to inspire and provoke me to keep on writing. I think it will remind us the bloggers to keep writing, cause really pleasure can really mean business!

Blogsvertise - words worth

What is the worth of words? In its simplest and basic understanding, One can say is in the meaning it represIents when they are assembled into a well-designed sentences as understood by the communicants. As the old saying, worthy is the word of credible and trusted ones.

At this point of time, the worths of words take anothe form within the concept of Blogvertise. With Blogsvertise, blogging will never be the same again as you and I are able to blog in financially sustainable manner. The concept brought both citizen journalism and webvertising into a strong synergy.

It should however be noted that the worths of words remain in the credibility of the information it conveys not the financial worth. Blogsvertising is only helping bloggers to value their ideas and writings in financial terms… Other than that, the principle remain clear and firm that blogger should remain independent from financial considerations and cherish the value of truth in each and evey words you blog…. s0 why wait? get paid while blog with blogsvertising.

a nation of sorrow: Indonesia

** in deep regret for the many victims of various disasters **
this is why we are a sorry nation:

* there has been too many (natural and man-made) disasters taking place around us.
* everybody is sorry about us but ourselves.. if we have been truly sorry those man-made/man-induced disasters would not happen so frequently and at a rather disturbing scale!
* we are too recipient (if not addicted) to “aid” from others…. we indulge ourselves too much in living from other’s pitty… how about thanks but no! not for the sake of empty and selfish pride but edifying ourselves in self-reliance.
* we dont have to thank for the so-called “aid”.. cause they are mostly another form of debt or at least a way by the haves to gain profit in a subtle and noble-like manner. most of the aid is spent for the benefit of the “donor”
* we, indonesians, take the word “sorry” for granted that we often wasted it unintentionally. why should we be sorry for what we should not… for example to reject cigarettes, invitations and virtually everything. let us use it rather carefully as a statement of our appreciation for the deep and true meaning of the expression “sorry”

Let us stop being a sorry nation… let us be something else… a worry and glory nation … or at least a truly sorry nation… if not maybe there is no point of being one.

to those who benefit from Christmas

No doubt that Chirstmas is one of the most celebrated holidays globally. people across across the globe somehow benefit from Chistmas .. at the least form is by taking some days off our routines and works some even make profit therefrom.

Well, Christmas was not as fun as it is presented nowadays. It was actually pretty sorrowful (at least from the way it was told in the bible)

  • many mothers lost their babies around that time. the ruler of the land (forgot the name) was said to have ordered execution of male babies out of his fear for one particular baby - who was prophecied to be the King of the Jews.
  • the parents of that particular baby had to flee Israel for Egypt… and went back to Israel before the delivery… (such long distance travel was rather of compulsory reasons and could be deadly for the travellers)
  • the mother was carrying a baby in her during the travel to Israel from Egypt.
  • the couple could not find any decent accomodation.. maybe it was peak season?
  • the baby said to be delivered in a meanger (among animals?) not even in a proper bed.

well, even if you dont believe truly in the stroy or you believe in different kidn of story, it is only proper that Christmas should be remembered the way it was told in the Bibel for that is why we have it now : in a sorrowful and mournful manner. the birth of the baby Christ Jesus was told that he is come to save the human being from the eternal death. His coming was a joy of different kind from that we see around us today. It was not a joy out of shining and blinking lights, gifts, or such kind but the joy of realising that God cares about us so much that Christ was sent in such a manner. — that is our truest and ultimate benefit from the birth of Christ Jesus.

May we make the most benefit from it.

wake up and witness

i have been regularly visiting this wonderful Berlin International Baptist Church.
i am happy and surprised that among the secular and humanism-oriented people of the west there are actually christian groups that are alive.
I am not talking only in terms of participants (although it is worth mentioning that this church is attended and backed by youths)
However, more important it is to note that the church emphasis on true aspects of christianity that is personal relations with God but also the need or desire to witness it to the people who has not come to know Jesus.
Today’s sermon again reminded me to ask myself the very question whether i have spread the good news to the people in my walk of life. I have wondered about the question and thought that if I live in Christ’s way, i would have been already an open letter about Jesus. I never regarded this preposition as a final answer so today again it was put under question. IS IT ENOUGH?
In the sermon, it was mentioned that people could actually see ‘the Light’ through our life but still have no idea where the light  come from… unless we openly credit it to the Lord Jesus.
well… i wonder if i have been defending my actual reluctance or hesitance to proclaim my faith because my life has not been really a model of christianity :D maybe i simply have not had the urge to witness because I have not actually had it in abundance.
come to think of it, maybe i dont have to wait for a better me … cause i will never be perfect enough to witness the perfect love of Jesus. now i wonder whether witnessing itself is  a part of process to embetterment… so many questions about life…
i guess the only way to find out is to decide and carry on!….. so help me Lord .. wake me up and lead me to witness!

Trivia:
try to find ‘gratist’ in google search engine and it will think ‘do you mean greatest?’ ‘gratist’ is not ‘greatest. gratist is the greatest

Tips menjadi wartawan yang baik

Filed under: FREE Style, FREE society

QUTOE:
“The marketing needs a better campaign based on the visitor’s appetite
and segment,” he said at a seminar on tourism promotion to the Middle
East.
“If there are a lot of Middle East tourists traveling to Puncak to seek
janda, I think that it’s OK,” he added, referring to the West Java
mountain resort and using the Indonesian term denoting either widows or
divorcees.
He said the tourists would bring numerous benefits to the women and
their offspring, as well as the country’s entertainment community.
“If the janda get modest homes even if the tourists later leave them, then
it’s OK. The children resulting from these relationships will have good
genes. There will be more television actors and actresses from these
pretty boys and girls,” he said.
Kalla was referring to a common practice in some areas of West Java
and Batam island, where local women engage in short-term relationships
with foreigners, many of them businesspeople from the Middle East,
after taking informal religious vows.

(more…)

Kendali Masyarakat

(more…)

X-tradisi: Indonesia

1. hubungan rusia-nusantara in english: nuso-russia atau russo-nusa relations. (fyi. prefix indo itu berarti india)
2. semboyan pariwisata let us go nusa!

banyak hal yg telah gw lalui during my absence here.. i am busy writing the story of my life… wel where should I start???

Kaget, senang bercampur sedih.. senang karena ini merupakan suatu tantangan baru, pengalaman yang unik bagi gw, kesempatan untuk menjejakkan kaki pertama kali di benua Afrika… sedih karena harus meninggalkan istri gw yang lagi mengandung untuk semingguan… tetapi a man has to do what a man has to do… inilah resiko pekerjaan gw.
A glimps about Gratist!

Well, i have been wanting to share with you why I name this blog gratist. this name was actually inspired by the nickname my friends in the Caraka Muda 5 Batch gave for me: Marxis Gratisan or malxis glatisan for some persons :D .
It is quite not clear how this bunch of rather uncommon people start associating me with marxism. i do like marxism as a opposition ideology to the existing world, but certainly i am not a marxist… i think marx idea was not as original as people think it was or as the capitalist production of his books presents it (would Marx think like that??!). well i write about this at a later time.
Well still related to that, this group of friends associated marxism with freebies. they know i am a zealous fan of freebies but who is not?! i think they are just too shy to confess it if not being hypocrite hehehe.. i mean: come on if you can get something good at no price why would you pay :D .
along the way, my thought on freebies-ism has evolved as i remember a line from a song by the beatles “the best thing in life is free … but you can tell me ’bout the birds and bees.”; i could say there could be some truth in that song that we, the human race, have chosen to reject the one best free thing and dolores of the Cranberries knows this: SALVATION.
well for me, from my point of faith, my goodness, dolores you are completely right… yeah salvation is free only because it was paid for a priceless cost.
so that is why i have chosen this name gratist defined as a person who value freebies and gratis stuffs not by how it was freely distributed but by the sacrifices made for that to be possible.
